How to Take Control of Your Mind (as a Public Speaker) – in 3 Easy Steps
As a Public Speaker,
one of the biggest barriers can be your Mind.
AND….your greatest advantage and opportunity…
As a Public Speaker Mindset can stop you in your tracks,
even before you begin.
For example, letting the mind tell you ‘I could never do that’.
Or the opposite ‘I could do it better than that person’.
The Public Speaking Greats really do make it look easy!!!…
The key here is to take time to work on your mindset,
Be active in continuous learning.
Here are three steps to taking control of your Mindset:
Step 1 = The first step to taking control of your mindset
and your thoughts is to be aware of them.
To identify what is happening.
If you cannot recognise when your mind is chattering
in a negative way you will simply let it override your state
and that’s when fight or flight kicks in.
Step 2 = You need to silence the brain.
Stop the part that is negative, focus on the good stuff
and how you are going to bring great value to your audience.
Remember you are going to help them along that
problem solving spectrum.
Step 3 = Tell it what to do. I’ll give you some words here.
You say to your mind (when you hear it being negative):
“Thank you I’m done with you, I’m giving my audience great value!!”.
Practice this technique so that you can silence the
negative chatter and focus on giving total value.
Taking control of your mind is one surefire way to know the
ongoing changing nature of mindset is all taken care of,
and you can remain humble and simply focus
on how to best Serve + add Value to your Audience.
